Mrs. Maureen Thorley, Math Specialist (7 - 8)
Email: [email protected]

Mrs. Maureen Thorley is Notre Dame’s math specialist, working with kids in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. She has been teaching in the diocese for over 30 years, most of which was spent at Notre Dame of Bethlehem.

After graduating from Bethlehem Catholic, Mrs. Thorley earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Cedar Crest College and a master’s in mathematics from Penn State University.  She is certified in elementary education and secondary mathematics education.

Mrs. Thorley is an active parishioner at Notre Dame – she runs the parish Soup Supper during Lent, she’s the charter representative for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and she’s the liturgical coordinator for the school. All four of her kids went to Notre Dame of Bethlehem and Bethlehem Catholic High School. In her spare time, Mrs. Thorley enjoys sewing and crafts, though she’s especially well known at ND for her fabulous baking skills!

Mrs. Thorley believes that studying mathematics is vital to our brain development by teaching us to be logical and organized. Like sports, math needs to be practiced regularly in order to develop our natural abilities. Like sports, we need to continually push ourselves and struggle a bit in order to reach our highest potential. And like sports, math is fun!
